Thou shalt give back was definitely a commandment that my husband and I prompted in the power-package of raising our children. Come on you guys, the universe is millions of years old, which in the final analysis, makes every individuals stay on earth merely a short weekend (albeit a jam-packed one). Making some kind of sense of ALL of this , is hard-wired in each of us– the idea of just mindlessly going along day after day (like a teenager as the center of the galaxy), is, well, unacceptable!! Giving is, by its very nature, its own gift. This is presented to the receiver and donor and is packaged in so many wonderful ways. In high school, my then boyfriend (now husband), would say to me with sincere conviction, “Giving the gift that giving brings, will be my pleasure”–it rang true then and i still hear its lilting tones now.
A crisis is a terrible thing to waste…a crisis is a terrible thing to waste!! After living through years of suffering i have finally surfaced , only to realize that those lessons were small life-parcels…gifts, if you will. With listening, having empathy, compassion and offering enlightened direction, I have been able to wrap and re-wrap these gift-lessons. Giving back is the true gift: by touching a person in need and guiding them through their rough road toward a more life-affirming coarse, by expanding the awareness of choice (in treating fibroids) in an unyielding environment of “off with their uterus!!”…YES, this is my neatly swathed carton(gift) for existing as a good-giving doobee. So, the next time that you find yourself burdened by the travails of misfortune, and you enter that state of whaaa whaaaa why me?…you”ll know what to do with that bundle of experience….GIVE and HELP…..now go do the right thing!!!
