In a recent study published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, researchers discovered a higher incidence of uterine fibroids in women who were fed soy-based infant formula as babies than those who were breastfed or given milk-based formula. From a total sampling of 50,000 women who participated in four-year study that examined environmental risk factors for cancer and other reproductive health issues, participants who reported that they were fed soy formula as infants were 25 percent more likely to have been diagnosed with fibroids by age 35.
There is too much mystery surrounding how uterine fibroids develop. Without effective and ongoing research, we will never know if the foods we eat, medicines we take or simple genetics predispose us to uterine fibroids. Research such as this on the effect of soy is a good starting place but there is much more to learn.
What we do know is that for women suffering from uterine fibroids, each day is a challenge. In my short time at Fibroid Relief, I have been personally moved by stories from women who suffer to the point of not wanting to leave their home due to such significant bleeding. This is NOT how we should live our lives.
We at Fibroid Relief are committed to not only educating patients and members of the medical community, but also to getting the word out to the effect that uterine fibroids are a SIGNIFICANT health problem for women. We need more research funding to find out how fibroids develop, how they can be treated properly and ultimately, how they can be prevented.

Good article. good to see some research done. i have about 30 fibroids i live with each day i dont have the heavy bleeding only during my menstrual cycle. iam thankful for that because the other challenges is enough. thanks for keeping us al updated. have a good day
