I don’t know whether to scream or eat a banana!!
Frankly I am not exactly sure what this expression means, however, It just feels oh so appropriate in lieu of this weeks happenings! This week marks two very significant events: 1. It’s Earth Day, 2. It is Fibroid Awareness Week! Wow!
From my vantage point, these two “holiday’s” are intertwined and meshed in a way that is undeniable.
Earth Day starts with each individual…each of us… respecting our own bodies, that inevitably off-shoots (and results) in a “good for the earth” outcome! If we take great care NOT to pollute our bodies, that will surely trickle-down and have positive and wonderful environmental effects for Mother Earth…win-win, for sure!
Which brings us to the first ever annual Fibroid Awareness Week…ultimately resulting in respect for our bodies! Do No Harm!!
Fibroid Awareness Week was created by The Fibroid Treatment Collective, to observe the week of April 19-23, as a time dedicated to the education of all-things-fibroid. Dr. Bruce McLucas, M.D., founder of the collective and the originator of this great awareness week, started this because of his deep concern over the high number of UNNECESSARY hysterectomies, as well as his clear dissatisfaction with the other traumatic treatment options for fibroids. [Applause Applause].
His ultimate goal, marking this calender week as a week to raise the awareness of the misery that are fibroids (these benign-buggers effect 8 out of 10 women during their lifetime,) is to ensure that WE/WOMEN have non-invasive options. And hopefully these non-invasive options, such as focused ultrasound, will be INSURABLE someday soon…for sooth!!
Quoting Dr. Bruce McLucas, M.D.: “We felt the best way to reach out to almost half the women around the world, who may have symptoms of fibroids, was through an annual educational observance and to disseminate accurate and timely information about diagnosis and treatment.” [Applause Applause]!
Fibroid Relief, this Tuesday April 27th, will be conducting a panel discussion concerning ALL of the NON-invasive treatment options for women with fibroids. The discussions are free and will be headed by very prominent and dedicated UCLA clinicians, all of whom are forerunners in the field of NON-invasive treatments for the dreaded fibroids. Included in this discussion-group, will be a naturopathic physician and Fibroid Relief’s Patient Advocate, Erin…her story is so so so relatible and helpful for all. The Fibroid Relief At Last Event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Marina Del Rey. Sign up and register at our website FibroidRelief.org…it will definately be educational and possibly life-changing.
So as you resume your lovely day, remember that this is the week to be kind to yourself, your uterus and to our wonderful Mother Earth…oh the beauty and glory of “IT”!!!!!

I heard an interesting comment the other day, and it comes to my mind when I read your blogs . . . . .
“There are human BEINGS, and there are human DOERS.” You, Wendy, my dear, and one of the best human doers I know. Thnx for your passion in bringing this important issue to the fore, and for caring about women AND Mother Earth.
Salute!
