How Can I Get Started
If you are experiencing heavy menstrual periods, abdominal pain and bloating, consult your personal physician for a professional diagnosis. A number of other conditions can cause symptoms resembling those of uterine fibroids. Their causes and your treatment options should be discussed with your doctor.
If you have already been diagnosed with uterine fibroids, perhaps you’re concerned that some of the patient selection criteria make you ineligible for MRgFUS. Questions about weight, surgical scars, pelvic infections, or anemia can also be discussed with your local physician.
If you know you have uterine fibroids, and seem to fulfill the initial criteria for MRgFUS treatment, you’re ready to “get started!” Most MRgFUS providers are physicians specializing in either radiology or gynecology. Depending on your medical insurance plan, you may need to be referred to the MRgFUS provider by your family doctor or OB/GYN. MRgFUS treatment for uterine fibroids is offered at medical centers located in 15 states in the U.S. and 14 countries around the world.
